Colorado Trails Dude Ranch: Kids’ Program for All Ages

TDon't worry, they'll love our kid friendly vacations!he all inclusive family vacations at Colorado Trails Dude Ranch have something for everyone, including kids of all ages. To prove how much fun our kid friendly vacations provide, in this post we’ll take a look at the three different kids programs we offer, all tailored to the needs of various age groups.

Buckaroos: Our Dude Ranch Kids’ Program for Ages 5 to 8

Unlike your teens, your young Buckaroos are pretty easily pleased; the trouble is keeping them busy on fun family vacations without wearing yourself out. We’re ready to take your Buckaroos off your hands for much of each day, and bring them back to you in the evening already pooped out and ready for bed.

At our dude ranch, you won’t have to hire a babysitter for the young’uns while the adults enjoy the outdoor adventure they came for. For ages 5 to 8, the family adventure includes some of the following:

  • Horseback ride and picnic lunch
  • Hayrides, cookouts, and campfires
  • Scavenger hunts
  • Nature hikes
  • Fishing and swimming
  • Petting zoo visit
  • Horseshoes, volleyball, and basketball

Rough Riders: Our Dude Ranch Kids’ Program for Ages 9 to 12

The “middle kids” are fond of reminding mom and dad that they’re not babies any more, and they don’t want to be treated like babies. The trouble, of course, is that despite their budding need for independence, kids in the 9 to 12 age range still need a lot of supervision. At Colorado Trails’ kid friendly vacations, we’ve managed to master the art of giving the Rough Riders freedom while still keeping a close eye on them.

Dude ranch activities for the 9 to 12s include the following:

  • Swimming and power tubing on Vallecito Lake
  • Half-day river rafting trips
  • Fishing
  • Archery and riflery
  • Horseback riding lessons, trail rides, rodeo games
  • Overnight camping

Teens: Our Dude Ranch Teens’ Program for Ages 13 to 17

We’re sensitive to what teens want. For starters, they don’t want to be grouped under a silly name like “Buckaroos” or “Rough Riders”, so we show respect by just calling our teens “Teens”. Though they might arrive at our dude ranch sulky and skeptical, they’ll leave with a smile on their face.

Although a lot of the activities that teens do are similar to what the Rough Riders enjoy, the teens don’t have to hang out with the little kids, and that makes all the difference in the world to them.

No matter what age your kids are, they’ll all stay occupied and have a good time at Colorado Trails. Check out a sample kids’ program to find out more.
