Better yet, we supply all of the essential supplies, so you don’t have to worry about hauling all of your equipment with you on your trip!
Our half-day fly-fishing excursions are perfect for beginners, although pros aren’t to be excluded. These trips will take you to one of six different areas, where you’ll be able to catch a wide variety of trout. El Dorado Ranch Pond and Rainbow Ranch Pond are stocked with fish, so you’re sure to take one in. Wooden’s Stretch, El Dorado, and Rainbow Ranch fishing areas, as well as the Animas River in downtown Durango, all private water on the Florida River, will give you a beautiful view in addition to your fantastic fishing experience.
For those of you who are more interested in a full-day fly-fishing vacation, you can choose to fish on the San Juan River or one of the nearby high mountain streams. The “Blue Ribbon Waters” of the San Juan River are in New Mexico, so you’ll be heading about 60 miles south of the ranch. Most sections of the river are catch and release with barbless flies, but you will experience some of the best rainbow trout fishing available. If you choose to have a guide and New Mexico fishing license, there is a $150 fee.
The other full-day fly-fishing options are the high mountain streams around our guest ranch, Colorado Trails. Lime Creek runs into the Upper Animas River, and has plenty of 5-10” rainbow, brook, and cutthroat trout. Cascade Creek is one of the most stunning fishing areas in Southwest Colorado. You’ll be able to bring in plenty of small brook and rainbow trout. Hermosa Creek will bring you into a secluded area that will give you the chance to wrangle feisty cutthroat!
