Art & Color Week at Colorado Trails Dude Ranch

01.13.2011 · Posted in Guest Ranch Art Vacations

Combine creativity with adventure vacations here on the guest ranch. At a guest ranch like Colorado Trails, you probably wouldn’t be too surprised to hear about a yearly event dedicated to fly fishing. You probably wouldn’t find it unusual if the same dude ranch offered an annual horseback riding instruction week, or family adventure vacations that offer white water rafting and cattle drives.

What about a dude ranch with annual art workshops? The annual Art Week at Colorado Trails is just one more feature that makes our guest ranch highly unique from similar vacation destinations.

Art, Color, and the Great Outdoors

The annual art workshops held at Colorado Trails are adult-only events that help our guests learn more about art from a talented, experienced art instructor. Pat Fullerton, our regular instructor, is a gifted art teacher with more than 30 years of experience. With her help, you’ll both have fun and improve your artistic capabilities.

Not only will the all adult group of guests be quiet and relaxing, allowing you to concentrate on creating your best work – our scenic surroundings will infuse you with inspiration. Colorado vacations are beautiful any time of year, but late September is especially beautiful here. This week on our dude ranch in the San Juan Mountains is a time of intense colors. The yellows and reds of turning leaves stand out in sharp contrast to crisp blue skies, soaring mountains, and evergreen trees. In all, the Colorado Trails setting is one of the most stunning autumn vacation destinations in all of America.

More Than Just Art

Even though the focus of Art Week is, of course, art, there’s still more to do at the Colorado Trails dude ranch than draw and paint. Here we mix in some of the fun of all inclusive family vacations.

Half of each day is devoted to drawing and painting sessions with Pat. The other hours are filled with our normal dude ranch activities. Hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and other activities are still available to our guests during the annual Art & Color Week.

Visit Durango While You’re In the Area

Did you know Durango was recently rated in the top ten “authentic” western towns by True West magazine? With a Wild West heritage, the city of Durango has invested much money, time, and energy into preserving its history. For the creatively inclined, Durango’s unique historic museums, scenic train rides and art galleries are definitely well worth the visit. Take an extra day while you’re visiting Colorado Trails during Art & Color Week to visit the town and experience its unique western flavor.

In all, we think that after enjoying our special art workshops on our guest ranch, you’ll agree that Colorado Trails is one of the best fall vacation destinations in the country.
